| What is Urban Design? |
| It is about making places more walkable, livable and sustainable. It knits together the arrangement, appearance and form/function of buildings, modes of transit, infrastructure with the public spaces they face to create a good environment within which to live, work and play. A major focus is to integrate the disciplines of design, planning, transportation and engineering in a holistic way to create great spaces between buildings, connections between neighborhoods and developments, afford easy convenient access to transit, walking and biking, and to nurture nature in the city. |
